David Hopkins is the Chief Financial Officer and a Managing Director for Pershing, a BNY Mellon company, where he is responsible for all of Pershing’s financial functions, including financial reporting in the United States, United Kingdom and Asia. Additionally, he is responsible for customer pricing, treasury, financial planning, decision support, accounting, financial controls, regulatory reporting and credit.

Before joining BNY Mellon, Mr. Hopkins served as senior managing director of Wells Fargo Advisors and chief operating officer of its Financial Services Group. In that role, he was responsible for leading strategic initiatives in the areas of product management, research, planning, financial advisor workstation and the direct-to-client channels. Prior to the Wachovia/Wells Fargo merger, Mr. Hopkins was chief financial officer of Wachovia Securities, the third-largest retail brokerage firm in the U.S. where he was responsible for all financial functions for the broker-dealer and had financial oversight of Wachovia’s First Clearing subsidiary. He helped lead Wachovia’s acquisition of AG Edwards, and he also served on the Wachovia Securities Executive Committee and Wachovia’s Capital Management Group Operating Committee. Prior to that, Mr. Hopkins held leadership positions in Wachovia’s Finance organization and was named controller of Wachovia Securities following its joint venture with Prudential Securities in 2004. Mr. Hopkins began his career as a certified public accountant at Ernst & Whinney and Price Waterhouse. He subsequently served as chief financial officer of GE Capital in Poland prior to joining First Union Corporation before its merger with Wachovia.

Mr. Hopkins earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and a Master of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Florida. He also completed the Securities Industry Institute® program, sponsored by the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association, at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
